Local Area Preference
Freshmen applicants applying into an impacted major are considered “local” if they’ve graduated from a high school historically served by Cal Poly Pomona. Those within this service area who apply into an impacted major will receive “local preference” for admission consideration. In addition, CPP grants “local preference” to all veteran applicants.
Cal Poly Pomona is impacted by major
Applicants who apply to non-impacted majors and meet the minimum CSU eligibility requirements will be admitted.
In addition, as a part of our commitment to provide access to veterans, Cal Poly Pomona gives "Local Preference" to all veterans regardless of institution. Since Cal Poly Pomona is not impacted at the freshmen level, we also offer additional “local” consideration to our “service area (PDF)” schools:
